Race Day Running Essentials: @donnaquack

Laying out your #FlatSparkle prior to a race (or even a training run) can help calm some of the pre-run jitters by helping to make sure you have everything you need when the starting gun goes off. Today Donna, aka @donnaquack on Instagram, is here to share with us some of her race day essentials –

@donnaquack’s Race Day
Running Essentials

As someone who loves to pre-plan what I’m wearing for races (costume or just “costume-light”) I’ve found that laying out everything I need or want for my race the day or night before is EXTREMELY helpful. It’s especially important if you are traveling, tend to get the pre-race jitters, or are just not completely awake when it’s time to walk out the door. Having your essentials packed and ready to go helps to minimize any unnecessary stress. Not to mention it gives you a great social media #FlatSparkle photo to post so people can recognize you! 🙂

The picture below is a #FlatSparkle of me before the Disneyland Paris 5K this past month. I was traveling and wanted to be sure I had everything I needed since I had no idea what to expect to find at the Expo there. My list here consists of a Sparkle Athletic Skirt, Balega socks, some Momentum wraps, Garmin watch, Road ID bracelet or shoe tag, running bra, Raw Threads tank, Sparkle Athletic visor, Mizuno running shoes and an ifitness running belt.

What you see above is a pretty typical “Flat Me” for race days. Things that would change would be either shorts or capris under my skirt and or a short or long sleeved shirt vs. a tank based on the weather. I did happen to bring a “throw away” shirt with me to Paris as I wasn’t sure what the weather was going to be like that morning. As it turned out, I needed it for standing in the corrals but warmed up once I started running. I do like to keep some old shirts or space blankets on hand for cold mornings in the corrals – they can come in very handy! Once you find things that work for you, you’ll find race prep pretty easy. Until then, #FlatSparkle can help you be as prepared as you can be for race day! Give it a try!

A big thanks to Donna for sharing some of her race day essentials with #teamsparkle.

As we all know, race day can be a stressful time. One way to relieve some of the pressure is by making sure you have everything you may need when the starting gun goes off. Whether you are traveling across the country for a racecation or down the street for a local race, having a list and checking it twice to make sure you have all of your necessities can be the difference between a successful race and a stressful race.

Everyone is different when it comes to what they need or desire on race day, which is why we thought asking the amazing #teamsparkle community about their race day essentials could be a great resource for us all. Maybe it will serve as a reminder of something you forgot to pack or tip you off to a new product you’d like to try.
