We are so glad you are a part of #teamsparkle. When did you first join and what color was your first skirt?
M: I joined #teamsparkle in September of 2013, my very first purchase was the lime green skirt and lime green sparkle visor for my Mike Wazowski costume for the Disneyland 10k.
What/Who inspires you to continue running?
M: The motivation of my family and friends is what keeps me going. I love the running community so much! Everyone is so helpful and friendly. If I decide to sign up for a race solo I know I won’t actually be running alone because there’s always an opportunity to make friends in the corral before the race or during the race! I also just love how running makes me feel! The endorphins after a training run or a race are like no other and they just keep me going and craving more miles because it just feels so good!
We all know how much #teamsparkle loves their treats as much as they love running… What’s your favorite indulgence?
M: I love donuts!! There is a donut shop that is walking distance from my house and I find myself there after a run more often that I should. They are the best treat after a nice run.
Which Sparkle Athletic product is your favorite “go to”?
M: Well, that’s a difficult question to answer because I love all of my Sparkle Athletic products so much! But, I guess if I have to choose I’d say it’s the Shwings! I wear them at races, training runs, and sometimes to work just for that little extra umph to get me through a long day. They make me smile and are a great conversation starter!
What is one of your favorite parts of racing in a Sparkle Athletic skirt?
M: So I would have to say my favorite part about racing in a sparkle skirt is actually twofold. I love the looks I get from other runners prior to the start of the race. Most people are very complimentary and love the sparkle, while others are staring in disbelief that a woman is wearing a sparkle skirt to a race. The competitive side of me feels that the best part about wearing the sparkle skirt is passing people during a race, most people seem to underestimate the power of the sparkle! #Respecttheskirt But seriously, racing in a sparkle skirt is just a great reminder to keep it fun and not so serious! Running is supposed to be enjoyable and if you aren’t having fun with it then really what’s the point? Life is way too short to worry about how fast you’re going or if you’ll set a new PR (even though it sure is great when that happens). Sparkle Athletic has helped bring a fun new side to running for me and I love every second of it!
Thank YOU so very much for “joining the team.” Individually each & every one of you is amazing, but as a “team” we ROCK.
Everyone has a story, and we want to hear YOURS! The #teamsparkle community is such a loving and inclusive group, but often times we are tackling our runs solo. Knowing your teammates can help you to feel more a part of the running community.
If you would like to share your story, whether it is about how you got started running, what motivates your running, why you love running, or how running has changed your life, please let us know!
